today i wore purple

May is Stop Domestic Violence, Go Purple.

For more information go here.

I know a woman whose husband slapped her.
She secretly packed, so he wouldn't know she was taking her kids, & leaving him.

I know 2 different ladies,
who were both choked by their husbands.

I know mothers who had to stay in
domestic violence shelters, with their children,
when they had nowhere else to go.

I know someone whose boyfriend
 put her in the hospital,
because he beat her up.

It's one of those silent things
that no one wants to talk about.

It could happen to someone you love or know.
It's one of those things we wish weren't real.

If you know someone that needs help,
 you can call  1-888-606-HOPE
It's the Friends & Family Help Line

..."Cover-up with make-up in the mirror

Tell yourself it's never gonna happen again
You cry alone and then he swears he loves you...

Do you feel like a man

When you push her around?
Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend one day this world's going to end
As your lies crumble down a new life she has found...

One day she will tell you that she has had enough"...

  1. A lady in the paper got arrested after her boyfriend abused her children (not his) for the 2nd time. How can anyone forgive someone who hurts your own family?

  9. Thanks for the reminder about this important issue. It's frightening how many women stay in these situations out of fear, lack of confidence, or a lack of knowledge of their rights or the alternatives available to them. Raising educated, strong and self-confident young women won't address the root of the issue (violent men, or in some cases violent women) but it would help more people stand up for themselves.
