from before

My outfit was based on
this Style Imitating Art challenge from September 2012
hosted by Vivienne of Thrifted Shift.
These photos are from September 2012,
but I never showed them on my blog.

"Well, I've been going through the motions

That I been looking for something

Have you been looking for me

My mom  made my necklace, and my shoes were thrifted.
I got my earrings from Etsy in Dallas 2010.

I ain't the same no more

In fact I have changed from before

My guy and I bleached this dress last summer.
We originally bought it years ago for $5.00 at Walmart.

No, you ain't gonna find me

Oh no, cause I'm not who I used to be

Leather braided bracelet from Etsy in Dallas 2010.
 Other bracelets I can't remember.
Layered flower bracelet I won in a giveaway, years ago too.

Well, I used to be a little girl

Just a smiling, feeling free

I wasn't worried bout nobody

Nobody worried bout me

But, I ain't the same no more
You'll find I have changed from before

I said I'd never grow old

I can't remember how that used to be

My found book poetry or book spine poetry

The Late Great Me
Little Witch

I've been loving, this band, Alabama Shakes since December 2012. Today I just discovered  the singer is female. The line, "I used to be a little girl", should have been a clue. Duh me, for not watching a video of the band sooner.

I find myself without the power

I find myself without the glory

Listen! I ain't the same no more

You'll find I have changed from before

You ain't gonna find me

...Oh, no, no, I ain't who I used to be

more white stripes

Today my outfit is based on Style Imitating Art Challenge. That's when Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey chooses a work of art to inspire an outfit.
Here's my version of the look.
My guy said, "Do a showing off your muscles pose."
Dude, I don't have any muscles.

Today's art inspiration is:
Captain America by Alex Gross

I tried to imitate the red, white, and blue, color scheme, the white stripes in my blouse and the stars in my headband.
My red tank and white striped blouse were thrifted.

Here's my brother holding my nephew Speed Racer,
who is wearing white stripes on his shirt.
In the bottom right photo, Speed Racer was celebrating Easter with his cousins.

My nephew Baby JJ has white stripes in his crib
My twin niece Lil bug has white stripes on the wall
My twin niece EJ has white stripes on the blinds.

My  art journal page from sometime this year.
I don't see a date on it.

Something about the colors, shapes, and patterns, of this paper, reminds me of my Childhood Bedroom. Which held my curtains, bedspread, and pillows, all made by my mom.

We had tickets to see the The White Stripes in concert back in 2007, but they canceled their show. So we had to get a refund.
Now the band's no longer together.  :( Boo!

The White Stripes were the the first band,
this little cousin of mine, saw in concert. Hooray!

pink flowers

Today's inspiration monday!

That's when the ladies Megan and Nora of Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it go to:

Yes, I am aware that I have very pale skin.
It is what it is.

My skirt and shoes were thrifted.

I did NOT know my husband was taking these photos.

I included them here, just for fun.

a butterfly's wings

...If you whispered your wish to a butterfly, then released it, the butterfly would carry your wish to the heavens.
from the book The Butterfly's Daughter by Mary Alice Monroe
Both butterfly sleeve blouses were thrifted.
I wore these outfits in November 2011.

So with each butterfly release, she sent her love to her grandmother on the monarch's wings...

I wore this outfit in the fall of 2011.

then leaves the the santuary to gravel north,
right here to Texas.

I wore this outfit in February 2013.

The butterflies are migrating back.
I noticed them over a week ago.
It's always a sign of spring time in Texas.

In college I actually wrote a paper about monarchs and their migration.

just like broccoli

When I was little my favorite vegetable was broccoli. Yes, I'm serious.
My vest was thrifted.

I liked when my mom cooked it in quiche,
 or broccoli chicken casserole.

I would also eat broccoli cooked
as a side vegetable.

My purse was thrifted.

My dad would put lemon juice on his broccoli.

Right: Betsey Johnson Spring RTW 2013

My brother is the opposite of me.
He doesn't like vegetables.

Chanel Spring RTW 2013

Now I like to eat broccoli with rice,
on pizza, in pasta, or with rice wine vinegar.

Journal my friend made, and gave me for Christmas

I have never liked broccoli raw.

I think of an airplane flight when I was sitting next to a woman from Texas,
but she no longer lived there.

My art journal page from February 26, 2013

She told me she knew she was home when she looked out the airplane window and saw that the trees looked like broccoli.

photo  by my guy

Now I associate broccoli trees with Texas.
That's always stayed with me. Then I thought about when I felt like I was home.
When I looked out the airplane window and saw mountains.

I take forever

Today's inspiration monday!
That's when the ladies Nora and Megan of Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

I always like to see my guy reflected in a window shot.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it go to:
inspiration monday: party planning.

Today's inspiration is:
Selma Blair
There's a website called selmablairstyle.com.
To see more cute photos of Selma with her son,
 on that day, look here.

My favorite Selma Blair movie is Legally Blonde.

I consider the movie Cruel Intentions a movie classic.

I really like her in the movie Columbus Circle .
It was made in 2012.

My striped pants were thrifted.
I don't have any boyfriend jeans that fit me loose fitting style,
so I wore these striped pants instead.
I don't have shoes like hers either.

My art journal page, I think it's from February of 2013.
but I could be wrong. I often am.

BEGIN
I'm really good with beginning projects,
finishing them is another story. ;)

I take forever to do things because I put too much pressure on myself for things to be perfect.
I get distracted, grow bored, lose interest, or become so focused I can't keep track of time.
I know I can be quite the slow poke.
