stuff you don't care about, but i do

Who sang the That 70's Show Theme song?
And is there like a real name to it other than "That 70's Show Theme Song

"The show usually opens with the theme song, "In the Street," by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell of the band Big Star. It was initially sung by Todd Griffin, but beginning with the second season, the song was performed by the band Cheap Trick, whose version is referred to as "That '70s Song (In the Street)." In a Rolling Stone magazine article in 2000, Chilton thought it was ironic that he is paid $70 in royalties each time the show is aired. Out of the two versions which do you like better?

According to the official That '70s Show website, Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde) yells "Hello Wisconsin!" during the first season and Rick Nielsen (lead guitarist/songwriter for Cheap Trick) in all other seasons. The lyrics were also slightly different during the first season, with instead of "We're all alright!" being shouted twice (a reference to Cheap Trick's 1978 single "Surrender"), "Whooa yeah!" is heard. The first season's theme was also in the key of G, whereas in subsequent seasons it was lowered to the key of D.
Alternate holiday versions of the theme song were arranged for Halloween, Christmas and musical specials, using organ music and bells, respectively. This was all taken from Wikipedia.

William Alexander "Alex" Chilton (December 28, 1950 – March 17, 2010)  Was an American, singer/songwriter, producer, and guitarist for the bands The Box Tops and Big Star.He did not have much commercial success, but drew a loyal following in indie and alternative music. He is often cited as an influence by many mainstream rock artists and bands. This was also all swiped from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I've mentioned how much I love the band The Replacements, and news flash, I'm probably gonna mention them again. Here is the lead singer of The Replacements Paul Westerberg and his homage to Alex Chilton.

ALEX CHILTON Lyrics
Artist: The Replacements
Album: Pleased To Meet Me
If he was from Venus, would he feed us with a spoon?
If he was from Mars, wouldn't that be cool?
Standing right on campus, would he stamp us in a file?
Hangin' down in Memphis all the while.

Children by the million sing for Alex Chilton when he comes 'round
They sing "I'm in love. What's that song?
I'm in love with that song."

Cerebral rape and pillage in a village of his choice.
Invisible man who can sing in a visible voice.
Feeling like a hundred bucks, exchanging good lucks face to face.
Checkin' his stash by the trash at St. Mark's place.

I never travel far, without a little Big Star

Runnin' 'round the house, Mickey Mouse and the Tarot cards.
Falling asleep with a flop pop video on.
If he was from Venus, would he meet us on the moon?
If he died in Memphis, then that'd be cool, babe.

  2. I love that 70s show seriously.
I dreamt about Ashton Kutcher the other night, it was weird because I never think about him. Prolly because he's all over the papers these days for cheating or whatever. Anyway, if you'd like to garland swap.... I just need your email address. (If you wouldn't mind emailing it to me at alovelylittleworld@yahoo.com) I posted more details this morning.
