My art journal page from April 2013 inspired by Wilna Furstenberg's art class |
The butterflies are migrating back. I noticed them over a week ago. It's always a sign of spring time in Texas. |
In college I actually wrote a paper about monarchs and their migration.
I did a paper on monarch butterflies in high school too.. such a mature creatures no?.. I always associate them with change, with evolving, with metamorphosis... I think I've turned into 20 different butterflies all my life..I'm constantly re-inventing myself... (could that be the subject of my next illustration? I think it will!)...
ReplyDelete"What are butterflies if not flying flowers?"...that's a lovely quote.. is it a good book, I've never read anything from her.... thanks for sharing!
Once in middle school I felt something on my head, and I thought it was a butterfly. We were standing in line and I decided to let it be. Thought it might even look kinda cool. When we went through the door it had flew away just a few seconds beforehand.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as we got inside someone said to me "Adam, did you know there was a bee on your head?"
That peach scarf! And the butterfly pants! Oh, this is just such a pretty post. I love seeing themes like this!

Wow those jeans are super quirky! I love the words, have to read this book now!
ReplyDeleteThose butterfly jeans are amazing!! Love the theme!
ReplyDeleteThank you Teddi. Why? Because I have been calling them 'bat-wing tops' and your term 'butterfly wings' is so much more beautifully evocative. I didn't truly appreciate the wonder that is the monarchs' migration until I was an adult, but it's one of those things that shows the power of the natural world.
ReplyDeleteLoving your butterfly blouses and as always your post is very creative and original ! I love the fact you seem to have your pics all well organized, Teddi. I wish I was like you ! Please, come to my computer and put some order in my folders ?? :-) Kisses my friend
