of arcadia and things

I'm one day behind inspiration monday.

The ladies Megan and Nora of Two Birds Boutique
chose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.To see how others styled it go to:
inspiration monday: the motherload.

Today's inspiration is:
Lauren Conrad

...Sometimes you have to let time carry you past your troubles she says. Believe me...

from book
Arcadia by Lauren Groff

I hand painted my earrings yellow.earrings: Michael's craft store dollar bin

Yes, it looks like I need to iron my dress.
left bracelet: hand painted by my friend's mom
right bracelets: made by cousin, mom, and various stores

Yes, my poses are silly.
dress: thrifted
shoes: thrifted

My art journal page from May 30, 2013

Sometimes I have to shut the windows
 and doors. It's allergy season!
I have to take allergy medicine every day.
Today my friend told me that she heard, it's more windy in Dallas than in Chicago.
I believe it.

...watch day begin to hatch to yellow...from book Arcadia by Lauren Groff

all nature photos  taken by my guy
...flowers spread on the ground like small open mouths,
purple bells, white stars with golden hearts...
from book Arcadia by Lauren Groff

...The trees whisper among themselves...from book Arcadia by Lauren Groff

...into a love song, voices broken and beautiful.
The song rises and infiltrates the city and wakes the inhabitants, one by one, from their oven dark dreams, and all across the island, people sit up in bed to listen to it lap around them, an ocean of kindness...

RED- The color of Browne bear's truck.
Like a robin redbreast or a cardinal bird.
Kimmie bear's favorite color.
Strawberries are my guy's favorite fruit.
I don't like red jell-o.
I don't like
jell-o at all.

Rockin' Robin by Old Rips

..."He rocks in the tree top all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing his song
All the little birds on Jaybird Street
Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet

from before

My outfit was based on
this Style Imitating Art challenge from September 2012
hosted by Vivienne of Thrifted Shift.
These photos are from September 2012,
but I never showed them on my blog.

"Well, I've been going through the motions

Wonder if anyone can see

That I been looking for something

Have you been looking for me

My mom  made my necklace, and my shoes were thrifted.
I got my earrings from Etsy in Dallas 2010.

I ain't the same no more

In fact I have changed from before

My guy and I bleached this dress last summer.
We originally bought it years ago for $5.00 at Walmart.

No, you ain't gonna find me

Oh no, cause I'm not who I used to be

Leather braided bracelet from Etsy in Dallas 2010.
 Other bracelets I can't remember.
Layered flower bracelet I won in a giveaway, years ago too.

Well, I used to be a little girl

Just a smiling, feeling free

photo taken by my guy in March 2013

I wasn't worried bout nobody

Nobody worried bout me

photo by my guy in March 2013

But, I ain't the same no more
You'll find I have changed from before

No, you ain't gonna find me

Cause I ain't who I used to be

My art journal pages from April 2013.

I said I'd never grow old

I can't remember how that used to be

My found book poetry or book spine poetry
inspired by this post by Katie McEnaney.

In Your Face
The Late Great Me
Little Witch

I've been loving, this band, Alabama Shakes since December 2012. Today I just discovered  the singer is female. The line, "I used to be a little girl", should have been a clue. Duh me, for not watching a video of the band sooner.

I find myself without the power

I find myself without the glory

Listen! I ain't the same no more

You'll find I have changed from before

You ain't gonna find me

...Oh, no, no, I ain't who I used to be

if i were...

I saw this post from She at the blog
She may be the song that summer sings.

If I were a month.
I'd be October.
Me in October 2006

If I were a scent. I'd be Japanese Cherry Blossom.

If I were an expression. I'd be a smile.
Photos taken with tripod, and self timer, when I was in another state,
at our old house, on the backyard patio.

If I were a pair of shoes.I'd be these Fringed Wedge Booties.
If I were a color.
I'd be midnight blue.

If I were a liquid. I'd be water.
What my guy saw,
on his bike ride the other day.

If I were a flower. I'd be a daffodil.
An object my guy captured in photo.

If I were a fruit.
I'd be a strawberry.

Strawberries remind me of my husband.

To see my strawberry blog post in November 2010 look here.

My guy looked at the grove of trees.

If I were an object. I'd be a stained glass window.
My guy watched the sun set over the lake.

If I were a gemstone.
I'd be an Opal.

It has many colors, depending on the light.
It's my birthstone.
It was my great grandmother's name.

Little me, with my great grandmother's boyfriend, and my great, grandma, Opal.

If I were the weather.
I'd be sunshine with a gentle breeze,
on an
Autumn day.

My husband captured the colors of the leaves.

If I were a car. I'd be an electric Mustang in blue,

(no, they don't make those yet, although some people are converting
their Mustang vehicles into electric cars).

My art journal pages inspired by these art journal pages by Donna Downey.

If I were a taste.
I'd be peppermint.

If I were a musical instrument.

I'd be a guitar.
She welcomed the sun.
After all the grey.

Tuesday September 18, 2012

If I were a sound.
I'd be laughter from a baby.
from Wednesday September 19, 2012

If I were a song. I'd be Imagine by John Lennon.

To see Imagine art by or inspired by John Lennon
post from March 2010, look here

Imagine by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one
