unusual perspective prompt

Have you seen this before?
by photographer Melvin Sokolsy

1963 Harper's Bazaar

This America's Next Top Model

photo is from Cycle 16.

For the 30 Days of Lovely photo challenge, here's my photos on the unusual perspective prompt.

Upon first glance, what's special about this weird doll looking thing?
"Read Outloud"

by
Conrad Quijas

It's body are pages folded from a book, like origami.

Can you see the reading glasses?
A different angle of the folded pages.
I have no clue, what the legs are made from.

Yes, I think it's a little creepy.

This could give me nightmares.

Is it supposed to be scary?

Maybe this piece is about censorship?

I didn't take any of the photos below

  9. I thought the creepy doll thing looked like it was made of folded pages and that the legs were old watch bands.
I love the half full/empty/piss glasses- gave me a laugh :)

  11. my friend rainee said this "About the doll on your blog...To me the artist is trying to show her own complexity, her life story) represented by the open book and its many folded layers. She is open but her mouth is shut (like she's been gagged) the censorship theme you mentioned is probably right. In one hand she offers you spectacles (as a way to get a closer view or perhaps she feels judged in her past?) And tweasers in the other hand. Her legs are slide rulers (the variation perhaps of some standard she or someone else has set.) Definitely this artist has a message!"

  13. I love optical illusion photos and ones that play on the cliches we've grown up with like the half glass one. Awesome.

    Lots of love from Sydney,

  17. Interesting photographs!! I like the Melvin Sokolsky pictures, but I find that doll a little bit more than creepy.. Maybe it would help to know what the artist had in mind?
