likes and dislikes

Today's Inspiration Monday!
When the ladies Megan and Nora of Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it
 go to
inspiration monday: diplomat.

Today's inspiration is:
Lauren Conrad

My belt was thrifted.

My boots were thrifted.

You know how some outfits you like, and some outfits you dislike?
I dislike my outfit.
 I'm being honest. I don't like it!
Now that doesn't mean I want
people to tell me they do like it, to make me feel better. Because if they do, I won't believe them. I also don't want to hear why the outfit doesn't work for me, by picking each piece of it apart. Or that I didn't do my hair, or even bother to put on lipstick, and why that was a mistake. The bottom line is,
I don't like the way the outfit turned out, or how I felt in it.

Now I'm going to show some pant outfits I DO like:

Vionnet Fall 2012 RTW
Left: Alexis Mabille Fall 2012 RTW
Middle: Banana Republic Fall 2012 RTW
Right: Altuzarra Fall 2012 RTW

Now for something else I like.

Two of my favorite guys: my husband, and my nephew Speed Racer, just had a  birthday.
I feel so lucky to have them in my life. :)

My art journal from Jan 16, 2013
inspired by
Art Journal All Year E-Course by Elsie & Rachel
I stamped and embossed paper, used paint, ink,
pens, and embroidery thread. The brown tags were store bought,
but I added the white ribbon, and white paper.

Everyday I try to express myself creatively.

Whether it's with words, art, music, or style.

I don't like everything I do.

That doesn't mean I stop trying,
although there are times when I want to.
I just know life is like that.
Some things are likes,
and some things are dislikes.

And sometimes, if you are me, those likes and dislikes can change from moment to moment, and time to time. I've been known to change my mind.  ;)

live beside the ocean

Are you ever been in the car, and all of the sudden a song comes on, that you haven't heard in ages?
It's almost like you're hearing it for the first time, over again?
A song that you didn't know you had forgotten how much you liked. That happened to me, about a month ago.

L.A.M.B. Spring RTW 2012

I am still living with your ghost
Lonely and dreaming of the west coast
L.A.M.B. Spring RTW 2012

I don't want to be your downtime

I don't want to be your stupid game

L.A.M.B. Spring RTW 2012

With my big black boots and an old suitcase

I do believe I'll find myself a new place

Carven Spring RTW 2012

I don't want to be the bad guy
I don't want do your sleepwalk dance anymore
Carven Spring RTW 2012

I just want to see some palm trees

I will try and shake away this disease

Me on the beach

We can live beside the ocean

Leave the fire behind

My guy stretching on the beach.

Swim out past the breakers

Watch the world die

My nephew Speed Racer is hugging his dad,
 my brother

I

am still dreaming of you face
Hungry and hollow for all the things you took away

My twin nieces

I don't want to be your good time

I don't want to be your fall-back crutch anymore

My nephew Baby JJ

I'll walk right out into a brand new day

Insane and rising in my own weird way

My art journal pages

I think I may have drawn these faces
with my left hand.

It says: Sometimes she didn't feel like being nice. Sometimes she felt snarky.
Sometimes she just wanted some peace.
Sometimes she wanted to be left alone.
Road trip essentials: fully charged iPods,
camera, full tank of gas

I don't want to be the bad guy

I don't want to do your sleepwalk dance anymore

I just want to feel some sunshine
I just want to find some place to be alone

We can live beside the ocean
Leave the fire behind

Swim out past the breakers

Watch the world die

Yeah watch the world die

There aren't any fancy pants here.
However, I do fancy these outfits.

60's Paisley MIni Dress

I fancy these shoes.

Fresh Cut Grass Irregular Choice Shoes

I fancy these children.

Hopefully the other one of my twin nieces.
I can't tell them apart.

That was the end of the fancy.
Now it's just me.

Little me a million years ago
Big me 2 years ago

My favorite childhood 4th of July was at the forebay, in California, with my family and friends. We swam in the bay. We got dunked in the dunking machine. We had a BBQ picnic, and watched fireworks.
 I'm sure I got a sunburn.
I'm sure didn't like that part.

My nephew, Speed Racer,

My nephew Baby JJ
My twin nieces with their grandma
and great aunt
Little me, my grandma, and my brother,
it looks like a 4th of July.
I think my mom made my top.

My art
Phase 1

It looks scary because it's a blind contour drawing,
which means you aren't allowed to look at the paper, as you draw.

Phase 2
I was not allowed to erase the pencil drawing. I had to shade on top of the pencil with crayon.
This time I could look at the paper.
My art journal pages
Truthful and trusting
Enjoys air conditioning
Draws or writes nearly daily
Dreams of the mountains and the beach
Inspired by art, music, fashion, and the 1960's.

Tries hard to do, and be her best
Easily excited and entertained
Doesn't do yardwork
Doesn't mind doing laundry.
Is one who thinks far too much.
I believe in admitting when I'm wrong.
I believe kindness is free.
I believe in recycling.
I believe in global warming.
I believe in silly, laughing at absurdity,
and showing the ridiculous.
I believe in love, even when it stinks.
I believe the best in people,
unless they show me otherwise.
I believe we are stronger,
 than we ever thought possible.
I believe in saying thank you
and good-bye.
I believe in cleaning my own mess.
I believe in leaving something better
 than you found it.

Now go forth and celebrate, if you feel like it!  :)
