likes and dislikes

Today's Inspiration Monday!
When the ladies Megan and Nora of Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it
 go to
inspiration monday: diplomat.

Today's inspiration is:
Lauren Conrad

My belt was thrifted.

My boots were thrifted.

You know how some outfits you like, and some outfits you dislike?
I dislike my outfit.
 I'm being honest. I don't like it!
Now that doesn't mean I want
people to tell me they do like it, to make me feel better. Because if they do, I won't believe them. I also don't want to hear why the outfit doesn't work for me, by picking each piece of it apart. Or that I didn't do my hair, or even bother to put on lipstick, and why that was a mistake. The bottom line is,
I don't like the way the outfit turned out, or how I felt in it.

Now I'm going to show some pant outfits I DO like:

Vionnet Fall 2012 RTW
Left: Alexis Mabille Fall 2012 RTW
Middle: Banana Republic Fall 2012 RTW
Right: Altuzarra Fall 2012 RTW

Now for something else I like.

Two of my favorite guys: my husband, and my nephew Speed Racer, just had a  birthday.
I feel so lucky to have them in my life. :)

My art journal from Jan 16, 2013
inspired by
Art Journal All Year E-Course by Elsie & Rachel
I stamped and embossed paper, used paint, ink,
pens, and embroidery thread. The brown tags were store bought,
but I added the white ribbon, and white paper.

Everyday I try to express myself creatively.

Whether it's with words, art, music, or style.

I don't like everything I do.

That doesn't mean I stop trying,
although there are times when I want to.
I just know life is like that.
Some things are likes,
and some things are dislikes.

And sometimes, if you are me, those likes and dislikes can change from moment to moment, and time to time. I've been known to change my mind.  ;)

  3. well, I just can't agree when it comes to your outfit because I honestly like it. those pants do look great with the white blouse and beige booties. it's a simple look but it works, it really does. and using lipstick is definitely overrated ;) why bother wearing it if you don't feel like it? at least I think that way.

  4. You know what they say - without the hard times we wouldn't appreciate the good times, so bring on the dislikes I guess.:)
    Cool look, dear, pants especially!

  5. I remember birthdays around speed racers age. It's always so much better when you're a kid. My youngest nephew turned 2 last Oct. and him and his brother were just having a blast. So many presents that they stop opening them because they want to play with the ones that were already open.

Back when I was younger the birthday boy would open the presents, and the brothers would get to look and hold the present as he opened the next one. It worked out pretty well, especially when it wasn't your birthday.

  7. I really love the simplicity of this outfit! One of my favorites yet :)

On a side note, I just switched my comments to Disqus. Please let me know how you feel about it. I want there to be more of a conversation rather then people just leaving comments and Disqus seems right for that. Any thoughts are very much appreciated :)

  9. If you don't like it, you don't like it. I agree completely, that it has to feel right for you. Now, I will risk commenting on the things I like for me...suede booties, awesome; tapestry belt, so cute.

  16. loving the look! though I'm not a lauren conrad fan but the girl cleans up nicely haha.. and I like your interpretation a lot.. and the fall looks are awesome but I'm not feeling them that much since I'm in a super tropical beach right now :)
...what should we do when we do things we like and then dislike? are we doomed to accept such "dislikeness"? should we keep pushing for something better?..what if that "better" never really arrives.. I'm such a downer aren't I? haha take care!

  18. I don't think your outfit is ugly, buy I understand you. Sometimes I really dislike myself in an outfit, and even tho my friends/family tells me it's nice, I do not believe them. The most important thing is how we feel in our own skin, I suppose !. Not every outfit turns out the way we had imagined. I think you're lovely anyway, my friend ! Kisses

  19. I hate those days so much, when you're just not satisfied with an outfit. It happens to me more often than not. On the bright side, your shirt is really cute. And I adore the runway inspirations you posted, as always!

May the force be with you.
    Emily

P.S. Those web-like things in my last outfit were actually a part of the shoes. But that would be pretty cool if they made shoe covers or socks like that.

  20. Ahaha, I do honestly like it, but I enjoy the fact that you posted an outfit you don't like, even more. ;) Also, I love Lauren Conrad's style! It just always seems effortless.

  21. I make a point to never lie when commenting on a blog and so I'm being honest when I say I like this outfit. I'm sorry you don't, but that's ok...blogs are about learning and growing and you have to feel confident in what you're wearing. I really like the detailing on front of the skirt and on the belt. The only thing I'm maybe not as crazy about is the pants bunching above the boots. I've seen people roll the cuffs.

  22. Hah, I have those days too when I just hate what I'm wearing and I feel miserable in it. I am going to tell you that I do love your boots, those are seriously cool with the wrap around laces and the material. (You find the best boots ate the thrift store! I don't know how you do it!)
