black days

Today's Inspiration Monday!
When the ladies Megan and Nora of  Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it
 go to
inspiration monday: home again, home again.

Today's inspiration is:
Alexa Chung
Does anyone miss her TV show
24 Hour Catwalk?
I thought it was kind of fun.

My necklace and boots are thrifted.

Maikeni blogi-part of me

nominated me for this sunshine award.

Now I will answer question 2.
II. How important is fashion to you?

It's hard for me to quantify it.
I know I don't like when I've had jobs where I had to wear a uniform, or be confined by rules, of what I can and can not wear. I  like to express myself creatively through the way I dress. I get very frustrated when I feel forced or limited in choices.

My art journal page from Jan. 13, 2013

Lately I can't get enough BLACK,

with a hint of color.

Or is that a constant with me?

We saw Chris Cornell in concert, in 2008.
To see that post go to Projekt Revolution concert.

I fell on black days

How would I know
That this could be my fate?...

I sure don't mind a change..."

  1. I once worked at a place where the plain uniform was a green shirt. I once had gotten Daisy some McDonalds after work, and while walking out with my food some lady asks me for some mustard because she forget some. When did McDonald's start wearing green? I hope she felt kinda dumb for asking that.

I also worked for a place where shirt was a royal-like blue. Those who went into best buy after work got a lot of questions from the customers there lol.

  2. I love the Two Birds Monday inspirations, it's so cool to see how everyone has their own, fun takes on the outfit. I really like the gray tights with the black dress, it adds some visual interest and your legs look so long! I agree with you on the not feeling caged in by fashion, one of my previous jobs I was only allowed to wear black/white and it had to be most pants, it was so boring. :p

  3. Teddi, I like your version of that look a lot! especially the combo of those striped tights and fierce boots. I also like your answer to my question concerning fashion. oh and thank you for the lovely answer to my 2006 question. that was definitely an interesting one! ;)

  10. Hello dear friend Ted! Here and I miss you! Sorry to get so far ... my life's been very race, but now I'm here!
This one's look reminded me of the 20s, when women wore turbans ... something flippant like Chanel!

  12. Huh? hi Teddi! Your Mom where? in Utah?

Sorry I am so full of questions.

Yes, Utah is so cold right now. We have a foot of snow at my neighborhood, but my daughter and hour south just has a skiff. hmmmm?

  15. I get frustrated too when the dress code is too limited. I don't mind uniforms however, I find that when I had to wear scrubs to work I didn't mind - it made doing my job easier and my clothes lasted longer cuz I wasn't wearing them out as fast.

  16. Back from your home State and let's just say I want to move to Austin- loved it! :) Just like I love this black ensemble of yours with the great tights and fun details. I'm more of a colour girl but I think when black is injected with a bit of colour it's fun and sassy!

  17. "I know I don't like when I've had jobs where I had to wear a uniform, or be confined by rules, of what I can and can not wear." - I totally agree! I went to a boarding school for a bit and hated having to wear a uniform. It just felt too weird, but I guess everything's an experience and we never stay in one place, with one set of rules, forever. ;)

Love your outfit, btw! Black with a pop of colour is timeless.

  18. I had a minging uniform when I worked at a hotel- I had a bright green blazer, red synthetic roundnecked blouse, knee length navy, itchy penci skirt and a synthetic scarf combining these colours- it was hideous!!!
That said, usually, I don't mind uniform, unless it's minging!
You look so cute in the inspiration outfit, love the hat and the blouse underneath!
