I'm trying to take care of my mom's puppy.

She's about 7-8 months old.

Who else thinks it looks like, she has a skunk's tail?

I've never owned a dog before. 

My family has, but I haven't.

No one knows what kind of mixed breed(s) she is.

She's supposedly kennel trained. Whatever that means.

Any helpful hints, techniques, tips, websites, links, would be much appreciated.

Please, oh, please! This time, I'm not kidding.

Basically I know nothing.
