like rainwater

...It looked out over the canyon below, what had once been a gorge made by rainwater      from the book The Elementals by Francesca Lia Block

A photo I took on the freeway,
when the sky suggested a storm.

The lights of cars and windows shone out of the darkness. Crickets chirped a mating song, creating a vibrating wall of sound,

...I remembered the mugs from when I used to come over after school on rainy days

to drink hot chocolate and eat cinnamon toast with Jeni.
I could still feel the slight burn of the spiced sugar on my tongue...
from the book The Elementals by Francesca Lia Block

This is a mug from my childhood.
I would drink hot chocolate from it.
It's the only one left in the set.
I think my great grandma bought it.
My childhood best friend really was named Jenny.

The mug says:

Start each day with a song in your heart.

My art journal page from February 20, 2013
inspired by the artist Diana Trout from this daisy yellow blog post
It says:

Then I look up and out the half circle glass
above the curtains and the blinds,
the rain looks like someone sprayed a mist
upon the window. The sky fades from bright sunshine to that lavender grey.
Yet still the breeze moves.
The leaves dancing
to whatever music
the sky brings them.

  6. Dude, I need to go thrift hopping with you, cranberry mulberry ankle booties? You seriously are the queen of thrift!
I really like how the black and white pattern of the skirt works with the cranberry shade of the boots, the pattern on the skirt is so pretty!
