like rainwater

...It looked out over the canyon below, what had once been a gorge made by rainwater      from the book The Elementals by Francesca Lia Block

A photo I took on the freeway,
when the sky suggested a storm.

The lights of cars and windows shone out of the darkness. Crickets chirped a mating song, creating a vibrating wall of sound,

I could still feel the slight burn of the spiced sugar on my tongue...

This is a mug from my childhood.
I would drink hot chocolate from it.
It's the only one left in the set.
I think my great grandma bought it.
My childhood best friend really was named Jenny.

The mug says:

Start each day with a song in your heart.

My art journal page from February 20, 2013
inspired by the artist Diana Trout from this daisy yellow blog post
It says:

Then I look up and out the half circle glass
above the curtains and the blinds,
the rain looks like someone sprayed a mist
upon the window. The sky fades from bright sunshine to that lavender grey.
Yet still the breeze moves.
The leaves dancing
to whatever music
the sky brings them.

my purple collection

This post and photos were inspired by

Random Color Prompt from the blog Daisy Yellow Art.
My mom made this purse.
My mom made the necklace,
and she made the blue blanket too.

Summer is going from
one air conditioned place to another.

My purple nail polishes

Summer is  usually when we go on trips.
My thrifted purple suede boots

Summer is
when we see lots of live bands outside.
My friend made this purse.

 Summer is mosquitoes I loathe.
My mom made these earrings.

Summer is unbearable sweat.
My thrifted purse

Summer is heat induced headaches.
Earrings on top made by my cousin.

The triangle earrings were my grandmother's.

Summer is
 maybe going to the pool,
 or water slide.

My purple collection of tights/leggings

Summer is when my family has time off of school.

These little girls are complete strangers.
I took their photos because

they looked cute.
They were dancing to the band,
 at the outdoor concert.

My collection of purple books.

like an autumn leaf

I got this idea from
Daisy Yellow Art to take a photo of something orange, red, and yellow.

Here's my orange, red, and yellow nail polishes.

My earrings in this color scheme.
Three of the orange pairs were made by my cousin.
I hand painted the circle yellow ones.

Here are my orange, yellow, and red bracelets.

My cousin made the guitar pick bracelet,
and the orange and white beaded bracelet.

My cousin also made the orange
and white bracelet, with the clear beads.

My necklace collection in the same colors.

My cousin made every necklace here except,
the red and silver beaded one.

Orange, red, and yellow cookbooks in our kitchen.

Here's my art journal page using color scheme.

It says:
Like fire she opened her mouth and sang breathy vocals that turned smouldering memories of what used to be into ash.
She didn't need flowers thrown onstage to signify her worth.

My 2nd art journal page using same colors.

It says: Firewoman, sunset girl, flames within you, if only my face was as symmetrical as the ones I draw or paint. If only.  Instead, it's frozen with palsy.

Little me wearing red pants and a yellow blouse while I walked on my grandpa.
