back in april

I wore this outfit.

...She never wore rings. I had asked her why, once.
She had said she liked her hands to belong to herself...
from the book The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti

...Sometimes, I got so sick of being in my own head, it would have been nice to be anywhere else for awhile.
I wished for a mind that was peaceful and orderly,
like a well-run office. Mine was more like a hospital emergency room...
from the book The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti
Black and white jacket, red tank, and black corduroys pants were thrifted.

...When you cared about someone,
you wanted for them most what they themselves wanted...

from the book The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti

I've liked peace signs,
since 9th grade, when we studied the 1960's,

Back in April, I read
The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti
...The paper sky was crowded. Like the rain forest canopy that protected all of the delicate living things underneath. We needed protection. Right then, we had no canopy, no ozone, no anything. There were only the straight, hot, poisonous rays of the sun beaming down...from the book The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti

Back in April, I saw this movie:
Ruby Sparks

..."If I did that..." He thought. "I'd be acting more out of fear than love, wouldn't I? Fear would make me a liar.
I shouldn't have to be a liar to make someone love me.
I shouldn't be so afraid of losing someone that I'll do anything to make them stay."...
from the book The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti

Back in April, my guy took these photos of the
Texas Bluebonnets.

Back in April 11, 2013,
I made this art journal page

The bluebonnets have bloomed along the Texas highways, this week in April.
It rained yesterday.
Today the sun shined.
Yesterday I played with ink.

  1. I love that first quote about the rings, so lovely. I really like your jacket too, it makes me think of Chemistry and physics class!!

Is Ruby Sparks good? I've been dying to see it since it came out, I love Paul Dano!

  2. Now that I think about it, peace signs faded into more a retro cool piece of art than a meaningful statement ever since the end of the Vietnam War.

I also wanted to say I like the trio of black and white and red. it's such a classy combo and I myself should wear it more often too.

  8. And again, Teddi, your post made me think... I loved the book quote "fear and lies, to make people love me or stay". In my case, I am constantly afraid that people will leave me by dying. Well, I developed this trauma, but it's understandable.
I loved your black and white jacket, it's so beautiful and chic! You always look so perfect, and you posts are so inspirational! Thanks for this one, dear Teddi! (On google mail today :) denisesplanet com

  14. I like reading your (book?) quotes peppered throughout your posts, and this one is no exception. To want for someone you love what they want for themselves - that's a beautiful thought. But I'm intrigued by the rings quote - I don't see ring-bearing fingers as not belonging to me, but it's a interesting way to see the world!

  15. Man, those pics of the Texas Bluebonnets are really beautiful. And this outfit is super cute and timeless at the same time. I agree with Maiken - black, white and red are a really classy colour combo.
