I've been thinking of Christmas,
as I look around the living room,
at all the decorations, people throughout my life,
have given me, and what each one means.
Those gifts from people I used to work with,
gifts from parents whose children I once took care of,
gifts from my friends,
that they bought or made for me.
I look at the Christmas ornament from my dad,
the year of the accident.
Gifts from him are few, and far between.
I look at the wooden bear ornaments, my mom painted. I remember when my guy hung them from our lace curtains, in our bedroom, when I was sick in bed.
That's my idea of romance.
He knows how to cheer me up.
He still surprises me.
He still makes me smile.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your life has been touched with some hard bits, I'm sorry.
Thanks for visiting my blog (again) and my youngest son's blog, Eetrs Obsessions. He was excited to get a comment as he's just started that blog after getting locked out of his old one.
Hope you're having a great week. It was so nice getting a glimpse into your life :-)

ReplyDeleteAwww, you and your husband are so sweet together. You last little paragraph was so sweet, love is like that, it's all about the little stuff. (And once again, you have the cutest nieces and nephews, they're adorable.)
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband seem to have a very happy and loving relationship and its clear your lives are rich with love. I hope you spend the holidays surrounded by the people who care about most.
ReplyDeleteAww, the photos of you and your husband are so sweet! I like the ones of him "hamming it up" as well. ;) And ugh, I can only dream of owning a pair of pants like that Alice + Olivia pair.
ReplyDeleteI just put the ornaments up on our tree today and I love hearin' my mom's stories for each one - who they came from, the memories attached, etc. That's what holidays are for - celebration, family, stories - honoring the present, but also the past. :)
Goodness, you and your husband are the cutest couple. I hope you had a beautiful Christmas, Teddi!
ReplyDeleteMay the force be with you.
