concert drama

Last night we went to see The Henry Clay People, Against Me!, & Silversun Pickups. All was fine, we made it right when Henry Clay started. We knew they were gonna be good because we saw them open for Airborne Toxic Event. There were some wild people behind us dancing and rocking as much as we were. Except the were very intoxicated or on some crazy stuff. He started cheering when he saw my t-shirt. This one guy kept reintroducing himself, touching everybody, and asking their name etc. We learned he was from... & dropped out of college. I was behind some hot tall blonde chix who I wondered might be groupies. One of them said she's been backstage there before, and it wasn't plush, but very comfortable. She said two people had hooked up in the bathroom, and yes they were loud. I suggested that the reason she got to backstage was because that was what they intended for her. She was like NO WAY! When she left to get another drink I kept her place in line until... this chick with her friend and guy started pushing us all around. I told them someone else was coming back & they needed to leave, but they wouldn't listen. They continued to push us all, making it near impossible for us to see. This eleventeen yr. old kid let me take his place in the front row. I gave him a piece a gum. Ms. Thing & her crew continued to make life unpleasant while she gave puppy dog eyes & said I love you, to the security guy. I wanted to smack her upside the head. When she left I cheered & my guy informed me she was unfortunately probably coming back. Then hot blonde girl came back to get her spot & I asked her if she heard about the drama. She's like Oh, no I'm not gonna let her in or put up with that! Well when Ms.Thing came back there was indeed a debacle & the security guy had to give warnings, but didn't do anything. Then after Against Me! left, hot blonde says You know them don't you? I said NO! I think those girls are _________! (I didn't use a nice word). The friend was apparently still there & said, So you think we are _________? Yeah I do. Hot blonde girl goes No I meant that you know the band! Uh, no I don't, (not in any way she means I'm sure). Then hot blonde tells me how Ms. Thing told her the security guy was her dad. (No wonder he didn't do anything or kick her out!)
Then hot blonde and I ignore Ms. Thing's stupid friend beside us & continue our conversation. We talk concerts. She tells me about the House of Blues in Houston I tell her how when we saw Silversun Pickups at Austin City Limits there were sign language interpreters & how cool that was. Then we talk about sign language etc. The classes I took in college, my deaf teacher who spoke, etc.. She asks me something I say that was a long time ago, I'm an old lady. She says You're not old! Yes I am. I was probably graduating from college when you were starting high school. Then she says Age is all the same or some other baloney. Don't touch the bottom of your shoes she, tells me. Why? They're sticking from the gum on the ground! Well a girl vomited all over the floor before you got here. Oh .Then I talk to girl beside me who saw Silversun Pickups open for Snow Patrol before. Another eleventeen yr old who saw Stryper in concert. Who knew they were still touring? Then the Whip It movie referenced how we thought it was a joke. The kid did NOT!All I know is I was exhausted, sweaty, felt sick & weak. Before Silversun Pickups came on I had to go sit down. She was telling me I needed to stay, (um not that much). We left before they finished their set. I was ready to go. I talked to my guy about how I ended in the front row, but it wasn't because I forced my way shoving others or by being mean. You know the whole honey versus sugar analogy.

Artist(Band):Against Me!
Golden arches risin' above the next overpass
These horizons are endless
Americans abroad! Americans abroad!
Profit driven expansion into foreign markets
And while I hope I'm not like them, I'm not so sure

This is the best summer that I've ever had
European Vacation, me and my best friends
Americans abroad! Americans abroad!
Whatever there is to be said is said in English
And while I hope I'm not like them, I'm not sure

Here we are, a rock band looking for new audiences
Wherever we go, Coca-Cola's already been
Americans abroad! Americans abroad!
And I just can't help but think that there's nothing in sight
And while I hope I'm not like them, I'm not sure

AGAINST ME! LYRICS

"Up The Cuts"

I can’t sleep.
Dry red eyes wide open.
Stare at the white stucco ceiling.
I turn on the TV,
watch music on television.
Have I heard this song before?
Did this already happen?
Derived influence in style of dress.
Similar trends in camera technique and editing.
Sync up the cuts to the bass drum kick.
All the taste makers drinking from the same glass.
Is there anyone thinking what I am?
Is there anyone thinking what I am?

Are you restless like me?

All the insiders rumor over the decline in sales.
All the buzz is happening in the new digital market place.
FBI warning printed on the flipside.
Under penalty of law piracy will be prosecuted.
In MRR someone asks the question,
“With the instant availability of information
and content so easily obtainable
is the culture now a product that’s disposable?”
All the punks still singing the same song.
Is there anyone thinking what I am?
Is there any other alternative?

Are you restless like me?
