hello, bright yellow

In Spring, I think of bright colors.

My gold sequined purse was thrifted.

My mom gave me my patterned tights.
My purple suede boots were thrifted.

My shirt says:
I'm alive... but I'm barely breathing now.

I bought my t-shirt at
this Story of the Year concert in 2010.

and their Grandpa.

This is my art journal page from March 12, 2013
inspired by scrapbook artist Wilna Furstenberg
I wore stacked bracelets,
tie dyed bright colored top, & pastel blue pants.
I didn't need a jacket.
I made a, songs to learn on guitar, playlist.
I got stuck in traffic, and turned around at exit.
I watched The Face and World of Jenks.
I re-read The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman.
I ate a zucchini, tomato, mustard, swiss cheese sandwich,
 and homemade cauliflower soup.
I woke up with puffy eyes.

Here's an acoustic video version of

I'm Alive by Story of The Year

..."I'd do anything, anything just to stop

This way from pressing down
I'd do anything anything now
To spread these wings somehow
I scream these words so loud
But they never make a sound

I'm alive
But I’m barely breathing now"...

give me some white

Today my outfit is based on Style Imitating Art.
That's when Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey chooses a work of art to inspire an outfit.
Here's my version of the look.
To see how others were inspired
go to: Style Imitating Art: Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog

Today's art inspiration is:
Wanderer Above the Mist by artist
 Caspar David Friedrich.

I wore white like the clouds and the mist of the painting.
Which could also appear to be white snow, or ocean waves.
The shades of blue are the sky, mountains, and his coat.
My shawl was thrifted.

Now for some all white ensembles.

Wearing all white is my nephew Speed Racer,
in his Luke Skywalker  Halloween costume with my brother.

Wearing white socks are my twin nieces and nephew.
I learned my 2 year old nieces are teaching their 10 month old brother, Baby JJ, how to jump on their bed.  ;)

Dear Sunshine,
I miss you when you are gone.
I get happy when you come back.

Love, Teddi :)

The Gaslight Anthem speaks to my soul. I adore them so.

..."The radio spoke to a good friend of mine.
And I could feel it coming up as the nights getting warm.
Saw your summer dress hanging on the back of the lawn.
Like a dream I remember from an easier time.
With the top rolled down on a Saturday night"...

seether

Today is inspiration monday!
That's when the ladies Nora and Megan of Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it,
go to:
inspiration monday: outfit envy.

Today's inspiration is:
Kate Hudson
I've already mentioned how I adore her as the character
 Cassandra July on Glee.

My favorite Kate Hudson movies are:
Almost Famous and Raising Helen
I've seen them more than 3 times each.

My blouse was thrifted.

compare and contrast

My shoes were thrifted.

Messy things I like are:
this idea was inspired by
this post from The Song Summer Sings .

Sometimes it is

what you never expected it to be.

After all this time,

Life has a way of still surprising me.

I've been playing Seether by Veruca Salt
on my guitar since last Thursday.

orange creamsicle

Today is Inspiration Monday!
When the ladies Nora and Megan from Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.
Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it
go to:
inspiration monday: days off.

Today's inspiration is:
               Olivia Palermo

Details of the orange guitar pick necklace my cousin made.
I'm wearing a different top in this photo, but it shows the necklace better than the dress photos.

My friend's mom painted the pink flower bracelet.
My cousin made my orange bracelets.

My art journal page from March 10, 2013
inspired by this technique by Wilna Furstenberg.

I used to not like the color orange.
Now I rather like it.

When I was little my favorite fruit was California oranges, and I adored fresh squeezed orange juice. Orange was my favorite soda. I liked orange sherbet and orange creamsicles.

Here's a photo of little me eating ice cream.
Now you can say you've seen me with my shirt off.

dust and fuschia

..."How could it be pink? Pink. A pink sky.

A Girl Made of Dust by Nathalie Abi-Ezzi
I'm wearing my favorite thrifted dress.

Maybe it changed colour everyday so it was always a surprise when you woke up.
from book A Girl Made of Dust by Nathalie Abi-Ezzi

My mom made 2 out of the three bracelets I'm wearing.
My purse and my shoes were thrifted.

Everything else would be different too, trees would grow sideways and shed feathers instead of leaves,

the wind would tell you secrets as it blew,
roses would grow as big as houses, and there would be no war...

Oh my gosh, Freddie Mercury's outfit in this video cracks me up! Another One Bites The Dust by Queen reminds me of my childhood. When they would play this song at the roller skating rink in Cal-Skate, California.

dawn's sunshine

Today is inspiration monday!
When the ladies Megan and Nora from Two Birds Boutique
choose an outfit to inspire a look.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others styled it
go to:
inspiration monday: the royal treatment.

Today's Inspiration is:
Hilary Duff.
I totally used to watch
the show Lizzie McGuire.
I thought Hilary  had great style, even back then.

My best friend, since 8th grade, gave me my purse for Christmas.

My purple blouse was thrifted.

My purple boots were thrifted.

You might be wondering what my outfit has to do with the inspiration? I didn't wear black and white, nor a polka dot sweater. I think the basic style concept is similar: long sleeve patterned top, slim cut pants, and ankle boots. That's my justification.

President's Day
Spending time with my love is one of my favorite things. Today we cleaned a little bit.
Yesterday we played the game Last Word
I won twice. He said I always win that game.
I hope that isn't true.

My blog friend Dawn from Suitcase Vignettes nominated me for the sunshine award clear back in January. Here are her questions and my answers. They've been sitting in my drafts.
Yes, I'm slow.

1. What is the funniest movie you have ever seen?
I don't know what the funniest movie I've ever seen is, but a movie I laughed all the way through was How to Be
I've never completely watched any of the
Twilight movies cause, it's not my scene.

I wasn't expecting much How to Be,  but I actually really enjoyed this movie.

2.  Do you wanna bring sexy back?
I don't know what you mean by this?
I don't think sexy ever left. Did it?

3. While using a public restroom, do you hover or roll the dice and sit down?

Sometimes I hover. Sometimes I'm too lazy, and roll the dice.Yes, laziness is a theme with me.

4. Who was your hottest teacher?

Do you mean junior high teacher? High school teacher? College teacher? or Guitar teacher? you decide.

 5. Have you ever been on T.V. ?

Yes. I want to say more than once, but maybe I'm not remembering properly. I know for sure, at least one commercial.

6.  Have you ever found anything in your parent's bedroom that was questionable?

Um which parent? and yes, although that could be debatable. I definitely found something outside, at one parent's house, and in the kitchen, at another's. When they were together, no I never found anything questionable, but I was little then.

7. When was the last time you played air guitar?

I don't know, but the last time I played the real guitar was today.

8. When did you last laugh until you cried and what was so funny?

I think it was a story my cousin told me. I'm sure we were making fun of someone or something.

9.  What would be the hardest thing for you to give up?

Carbohydrates. I couldn't live without them. The end.

10. What was your most embarrassing moment?

I've said this before hereAny accidental flashing. Let's just leave it at that. Shall we? ;)

of stars with red and blue

Today my outfit is based on Style Imitating Art Challenge.
That's when Jess from Animated Cardigan choses a work of art,
 to inspire an outfit.

Here's my version of the look.
To see how others were inspired,
 go to:
Style Imitating Art: untitled.

Today's art inspiration is:
Olympics-Star:1992
by artist Sol LeWitt

I thought the lines in my skirt,
sort of mimicked the lines in the star.

My red skirt and my black boots were thrifted.

Now for some more red and blue fashion:

Anna Sui Spring RTW 2013
Can you see her star button?
Can you see the red tie has a guitar on it?
How about the heart bracelet?

Left: Anna Sui Spring RTW 2013
Middle: Alice + Olivia Spring RTW 2013
Right: Betsey Johnson Spring RTW 2013

Those sunglasses, the jackets,
and the floral patterns are the best!

Anna Sui Spring RTW 2013
I adore the black lace detail on the back pockets,
the prints and the necklace!

Anna Sui Spring RTW 2013
I dig the clear clutch bag, and how it looks hand painted.
I also really like the hearts!

My art journal pages from
February 25, 2013

If you had told me five years ago that I was going to live in The Lonestar State, I would not have believed it. If you had told me at concerts that bands would sing:
"The stars at night are big and bright"
and have us, in the audience sing back,
"Deep in the heart of Texas"...
I would have been shocked.

Teenage me liked to look at the stars, and find the constellations:
The Big Dipper,The little dipper, and Cassiopeia. I thought I would like Astronomy class in college. No way!

It was too much math. I only passed it because my husband took it with me, and helped
.

Thank goodness for that. ;)

Now for the little stars in my life:

My nephew Speed Racer with his
 goldfish crackers.
Can you see the star shape on the bottom right photo?

Left: My nephew Baby JJ is standing
without an adult helping him.
Right: My twin nieces are trying to vacuum cause I told them they had to clean up the mess they made.

Now for my 11th favorite band Augustana:
from their All the Stars and Boulevards album.

...."Seems like I'm never coming home
Seems like I'm always on my oh..
All the stars and boulevards
 ain't close enough for you"...
All the Stars and Boulevards by Augustana
