& so are my earrings.

I don't like the sleeves with
this jacket though.

These earrings were from my
in-laws many years ago.

I got this thrifted jacket
in Portland, Oregon in 2008.

The off white jacket, with ruffles on its cuffs, & buttons down the middle.

A couple weeks ago, my friend's daughter, had a sweet 16 birthday party.

This is what I wore.

One layer of cake was Italian white wedding cake,
or some weird name like that.
The other layer was yellow cake.
Yes I sampled them both, & they were good.

The earrings I wore, were made by my mom,
when she visited Texas, a few years ago.

I'm so NOT 16, anymore.

Once upon a time, I was 16. My best friend bought me a bouquet of balloons.

Have I told you this story before?
I can't remember. I haven't been 16 for a long time, & I forget things.

The balloon bouquet my friend bought, my 16 year old self, was so big I couldn't stuff it in my locker.

I was so embarrassed because I had to carry my balloon bouquet from class to class. There was this big heart shaped one that said "Sweet Sixteen" on it. Everybody, including the teachers, had to make some comment about sweet sixteen & never been kissed.

I was blushing red the whole day, from being teased.

I actually took this photo.

Then during lunch my friends surprised me by taking me to a pizza place. My mom had ordered & paid for the pizza. No, my mom wasn't there.
That was a very thoughtful thing for her to do. I still have the paper place mat.

I also still remember one of the girls saying
"Why aren't there any guys here?"

Let's just say I was kind of intimidating,
especially to boys that liked me. I wasn't very nice.
How do I know this? I've reread my high school journals. It's funny how we think we remember something one way, then we learn we might have been wrong, or perhaps mistaken.
Not that I ever am. ;)

For my guy's birthday, we went to a piano bar.

We started the night at coffee shop, where some girl was singing, & playing her songs on a keyboard. We got bored, so I said why don't we go to the piano bar?

The piano bar was one of the things my guy had mentioned he wanted to do, back when we 1st moved here, but then we never did.

At the piano bar, people tip the piano players with cash, & they request songs for them to play. Usually well known, let's all sing along songs like, Baby Got Back, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Jessie's Girl, Enter Sandman, God Bless the U.S.A., Don't Stop Believing.... Songs that generally have a guitar.

My brother got one of those mini Casio Keyboards, for Christmas, when we were little.

I had no exposure, & didn't understand music theory. When I was in Jr. High, I lived next door to a singer. Sometimes she'd dropped me off at the Jr. High, on her way to work, at the High School.

She had a piano in her house. She told me I could play it, because one day I was messing around with the piano keys, & using one of her beginning piano books.

It was fun, but that was the only time I played her piano. I was too embarrassed to go over to her house. I was afraid I would annoy her if I came over all the time, even though she told me no one played it. She was the woman who sang at my wedding, & who's borrowed wedding dress I wore.

When the guy from the audience, played the guitar,
that was hanging on the walls of the bar.

I wish I'd taken her up on the offer. I still don't know how to play the piano. The truth is though, I'm more of a guitar girl. My favorite part at the piano bar was when the guitar was played. When I mentioned it, another guitar player said to me, "Well it's not like I hear a song, & go man, that really needs some piano, more piano." ;)

I love this song. I remember playing it on my record player while studying the lyrics from the album I'd bought at the thrift store.

I know a girl that collects Precious Moments.

Me, in the back of my guy's truck.

I don't know when it started,
but she's been doing it for years.

Many of them are gifts,
& some are figurines.

One of them is an angel.
It tops her Christmas tree.

I collect precious moments too,
but mine are different than she.

For I collect words,
songs, scraps of paper,
images, as flashes of memories.
Things I want to remember.
Possibly frozen moments in time.
